Introduction to Inkbee
Inkbee is a digital reading room for the articles and documents you save: a place to read, annotate, and think through them. This guide walks you through the basics.
Building your library
To save something to Inkbee, use the Share menu on your iPhone. In Safari or another app, tap Share, then tap Inkbee. You can save web pages, PDFs, markdown files and plain text.
Inkbee pulls out the main text and images and keeps a copy on your device. Once a document is saved, you can read and annotate it offline.
Inkbee also tags each document by topic, so you can find related reading later.
Setting up the reader
You can change how documents look. While you’re reading, open the settings menu to:
- Pick a typeface: Literata, Source Serif, Charter or Atkinson.
- Change the text size and line spacing.
- Choose Light, Dark or System, which follows your phone’s setting.
Highlighting and taking notes
Inkbee is made for active reading. To highlight a passage, press and drag over a passage of text.
To add your own thoughts, tap the highlight. This opens a thread where you can write as much or as little as you like. Each note leaves a marker in the margin, so you can spot your notes as you scroll and tap one to jump back into its thread.
Inklings
Inklings are AI readers that read along with you. When you highlight a passage, you can ask to explain an idea, look up more about it, or offer another way of seeing it.
Inklings are there to help you research and think more carefully about what you read.
To have inklings comment more or less often, change their activity level in Settings. You can also turn AI off for any document.
Happy reading
We hope you enjoy exploring Inkbee, and that it helps you build a deeper understanding of the ideas that matter to you.
